Disability Sports Programme
ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
The Sheffield United Community Foundation uses sport to inspire and improve wellbeing, with Disability sport now a key focus. Its new five-year programme, funded by Firehouse Fitness, expands opportunities for people with SEND across Sheffield. By offering accessible, flexible weekly sessions, it removes barriers such as cost, limited facilities, and social stigma. Building on existing initiatives like cerebral palsy and frame football sessions, the programme increases both scale and variety. It also supports workforce development through coaching and volunteering opportunities, strengthening long-term sustainability. Aligned with Sheffield’s “Move More” strategy, the initiative promotes inclusion, reduces inequalities, and encourages a more active, healthier city
