Rather than running programmes itself, it focuses on the systems that decide who gets to be active: policy, funding, culture and place. About the Role
Together Active is looking for an experienced, inclusive and emotionally intelligent Chief Executive to lead the charity into its next chapter. The appointment comes at a key moment: the Board is being refreshed and a new Sport England investment period starts in April 2027.
The CEO will set the strategic direction, run the organisation day to day and act as a trusted convener across local government, health, education, sport, leisure and the voluntary sector. The role is 32 hours over four days a week, hybrid across the office, home and the wider county, and reports to the Chair and Board of Trustees.
What You'll Do
Strategy and leadership
- Lead Together Active's strategic direction and day-to-day operations
- Work with the Chair, Board and senior leadership team through a period of organisational change
- Lead the charity into the next Sport England investment period from April 2027
Partnerships and place
- Build trusted relationships and bring partners together across local government, health, education, sport, leisure and the voluntary and community sector
- Turn national priorities into meaningful place-based change across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent
Organisation and sustainability
- Lead organisational development and support a collaborative team culture
- Secure the charity's long-term financial sustainability through responsible stewardship
What They're Looking For
Essential
- Experience of partnership and system leadership in sport and physical activity, health, education, local government, the voluntary sector or a similar place-based setting
- An understanding of the Active Partnership model and its distinctive role
- A track record of leading organisations through change
- Strong financial judgement and experience of building organisational sustainability
- The credibility to operate at senior strategic tables
- Clear communication and engagement skills
Desirable
- Knowledge of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent

Salary: £65,000–£70,000
