About the Role
The Sport & English Tutor will join SUCF's growing Education team, working within its 16–19 Study Programme. The role combines specialist GCSE English and Functional Skills delivery with the opportunity to contribute to the Foundation's BTEC Sport programme, as part of an education offer that uses the power of football and sport to engage young people while maintaining high expectations for academic achievement, personal development and progression.
What You'll Do
Deliver high-quality GCSE English and/or Functional Skills English
Support learners to make progress from their individual starting points
Contribute to BTEC Sport delivery where appropriately qualified and experienced
Work collaboratively with vocational tutors, football coaches and learner-support staff
Help embed literacy through sport, coaching, employability and wider learner activity
Support learners with different abilities, backgrounds and support needs to achieve their potential
What They're Looking For
Strong English subject knowledge and teaching experience
Passion for engaging and developing 16–19-year-olds
Experience within further education, sixth form, alternative provision, or sport/football education particularly welcome
Practical Details
Salary: £28,000–£32,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience
Contract: Full-time
Location: Garon Park, Southend-on-Sea
Safeguarding: Role involves regulated activity with young people; subject to safer recruitment, DBS and safeguarding checks
