LocationLondon, Salford or Belfast

Categories Sport for Good, Digital Content & Community Lead, Marketing

Closing Date11 Oct 2026

About the Organisation

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation (RFF) is a registered charity creating opportunities for young people, working across London, Salford and Belfast with extensive activity across the UK and Ireland.

About the Role

The Digital Content & Community Lead will lead RFF's Instagram and TikTok presence, creating distinctive social-first content and building engaged digital communities around the Foundation's work. It's a hands-on role — spending time with young people, staff, partners and ambassadors across the UK and Ireland, spotting, capturing and creating content that brings the Foundation to life. While Instagram and TikTok are the primary focus, the role also supports RFF's wider digital and communications activity, including LinkedIn, X, YouTube, email communications and press activity. RFF is open to emerging talent — they say they care more about what candidates can create and their creative instincts than where they learned their skills.

What You'll Do

Social Content & Community

Take day-to-day ownership of RFF's Instagram and TikTok channels, growing active and engaged communities
Develop a forward content plan while responding creatively to trends, conversations and opportunities in real time
Listen to audiences, engage actively with communities, and use insight and performance to continually improve content

Content Creation & Production

Proactively identify content opportunities across RFF's work, partnerships and events; plan, film, photograph, interview and edit high-quality social-first content
Create content specifically for digital platforms, particularly short-form video for Reels and TikTok, and adapt content effectively across formats and channels
Use and advise on appropriate production equipment, software and tools; maintain an organised digital content and asset library

Young People & Youth-led Content

Build positive, appropriate relationships with young people, creating content with them rather than simply about them
Create opportunities for young people to contribute as creators, presenters, interviewers and storytellers, and help identify and develop aspiring young content creators
Ensure all content involving young people is created, captured, stored and used in line with RFF's safeguarding, consent and data-protection requirements

Partnerships, Ambassadors & Collaboration

Work creatively with RFF's corporate and industry partners, ambassadors and wider network to develop co-created content, campaigns and opportunities
Build strong relationships with partner communications and social teams, identifying opportunities for collaborative content and cross-platform amplification
Work confidently across different environments — from community youth sessions to major corporate, media, sporting and cultural events

Wider Digital Content

Support the creation and adaptation of content across RFF's wider digital ecosystem, including YouTube, LinkedIn, X and the Foundation's website
Support wider communications activity, including email communications, press and media activity, campaigns, launches and events
Bring ideas about new platforms, formats, technologies and approaches

Insight & Performance

Monitor channel and content performance, using analytics to understand engagement, community growth, reach and audience behaviour
Test new approaches and formats, learn from performance and audience response
Keep up to date with developments across social media, digital content, creator culture and platform changes, sharing insights with the Director of Development and wider team

What They're Looking For

Demonstrable creative and content-making ability across social-first formats, particularly short-form video
Understanding of digital communities and how to build/engage them
Comfort working directly with young people, including on safeguarding-sensitive content
Ability to work confidently across varied environments and with partners/ambassadors
Analytical mindset — comfortable using performance data to shape content decisions
Open to candidates from professional, freelance or personal/social-account backgrounds — RFF states they're open to emerging talent
Practical Details
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 36 hours per week
Location: Based from an RFF office in London, Salford or Belfast, hybrid working, with extensive travel across the UK and Ireland
