About the Role
Morton in the Community is looking for a Family Support Coach to provide high-quality, relationship-based support to children, young people and families experiencing poverty, disadvantage, isolation, or other challenges. The postholder will manage a caseload of families, delivering strengths-based, whole-family support that helps individuals identify their goals, build resilience, improve wellbeing, access appropriate services, and achieve positive outcomes. The role represents Morton in the Community across Inverclyde, using football and community engagement as a route into supporting families.
This is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week, based at Cappielow and various community settings across Inverclyde, reporting to the Project Lead (Community).
What You'll Do
Family Support Delivery
Manage an active caseload of families, providing flexible levels of support based on individual needs and circumstances
Build positive, trusting relationships with families and support them to identify strengths, needs, priorities and goals
Complete assessments and develop family support plans where appropriate
Provide one-to-one and whole-family support to improve wellbeing, stability and resilience
Support families to overcome barriers affecting health, education, employment, financial wellbeing and community participation
Provide practical support, advice and signposting to relevant services and opportunities
Make referrals and support access to specialist, statutory and community-based services
Support families to engage with Morton in the Community programmes and wider community opportunities
Community Engagement
Undertake outreach and engagement activities to identify and support families who may not currently access services
Build positive relationships with schools, community groups, health services and partner organisations
Promote participation in family support programmes and community activities
Attend community events, awareness campaigns and promotional activities
Act as an ambassador for Morton in the Community within local communities
Partnership Working
Work collaboratively with schools, social work, health services, local authorities and community organisations
Support coordinated approaches to meeting the needs of children, young people and families
Attend multi-agency meetings where required
Contribute to partnership development and service improvement initiatives
Represent the charity at meetings, forums and networking events as required
Monitoring and Evaluation
Maintain accurate case records, attendance information and project documentation
Record interventions, outcomes, referrals and family progress
Collect participant feedback, case studies and monitoring information
Support project evaluation and impact reporting requirements
Contribute to achieving project targets and key performance indicators
Safeguarding and Welfare
Promote a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants
Adhere to safeguarding, child protection and vulnerable adult procedures
Identify, record and report welfare concerns in accordance with organisational policies
Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR requirements
Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion principles are embedded throughout all activities
Administration
Complete required paperwork, reports and monitoring documentation within agreed timescales
Maintain accurate and secure records relating to families and participants
Use organisational communication and case management systems effectively
Assist with project planning, scheduling and resource management
Undertake training and continuing professional development relevant to the role
What They're Looking For
Essential
Experience of working directly with families, parents, carers, children or young people
Experience of providing one-to-one support, key-working, casework or family support
Experience of building positive relationships with individuals experiencing challenging circumstances
Experience of managing and prioritising a caseload
Experience of partnership working and making referrals
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Understanding of strengths-based and whole-family approaches
Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Desirable
Relevant qualification in Family Support, Community Work, Youth Work, Social Care, Education or a related field
Experience of community outreach and engagement
Knowledge of welfare benefits, income maximisation and financial inclusion support
Experience of working with schools, social work, health services or third-sector organisations
Experience of outcome measurement and case management systems
Experience supporting families experiencing poverty or social disadvantage
Practical Details
Salary: £27,000
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term until 31st March 2028 (possible expansion subject to funding)
Location: Cappielow / various community settings across Inverclyde
Reports to: Project Lead (Community)
