About the Role
GoodGym is looking for a Head of Business Development to lead all of its income generation. Working closely with the CEO, they will shape and deliver the business development strategy and secure the charity's long-term financial sustainability.
The role is full time (37.5 hours over five days, with flexible working), permanent, and based in London on a hybrid basis. It reports to the CEO and line manages one member of staff.
What You'll Do
Income and strategy
- Develop and manage a business development strategy that meets the charity's income targets
- Secure income across public sector contracts, grants, brand partnerships, member donations and Gift Aid
- Own the full pipeline, from modelling and spotting opportunities to proposals, tenders and contract negotiation
- Keep track of funding trends and adapt the approach
Relationships and team
- Build and maintain relationships with funders and chase new opportunities
- Lead and manage business development staff and contractors
- Represent GoodGym to stakeholders and build its reputation
Organisational role
- Contribute to overall strategy and assess the financial implications
- Make sure operational teams are consulted on relevant proposals
- Give leadership and the Trustee Board clear visibility of the funding pipeline
What They're Looking For
Essential
- A proven track record of securing six-figure income
- Grant writing experience
- An understanding of social value, budget management and data-driven decisions
- People management experience
- Excellent communication, strategic planning and project management skills
- A collaborative, person-centred and proactive approach, with a commitment to diversity and safeguarding
Desirable
- Knowledge of public sector procurement
- Experience in sport, mental health or older people's services
- Experience managing staff who generate income
- A charity or third-sector background
Practical Details
Salary: £45,000–£50,000
Hours: 37.5 hours a week over five days, with flexible working
