Chance to Shine is a children's charity dedicated to harnessing the power of cricket to transform the life prospects of young people in the UK. Established in 2005, the charity has a long-term track record of delivery in state schools and under-served communities, bringing best-in-class cricket programmes to young people aged 5 to 24 who might not otherwise have the opportunity to play. All programmes are completely free for everyone involved, from schools and community groups to young people and their families. About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Chance to Shine's fundraising team and help shape the next phase of the charity's growth. The Trusts and Foundations Officer is responsible for securing and growing income from charitable trusts and foundations through the development of funding applications, effective stewardship, and high-quality reporting. The role offers the chance to build funder relationships, contribute to ambitious fundraising plans, and play a key part in enabling more young people to benefit from the power of cricket.
The role would suit a dynamic fundraiser looking to develop their skills and knowledge within an established and ambitious charity. Applicants don't need to already work in fundraising or the charity sector — candidates from communications, marketing, research, bid writing or relationship management backgrounds are also encouraged to apply if they are strong writers, enjoy building relationships, can make sense of different types of information, and are organised in managing deadlines and detail.
This is a London office-based role, with a minimum of two days a week in the office and the option to work from home the rest of the week. The role holder will need to be flexible to attend meetings and events, mostly in London but elsewhere around the country as needed.
What You'll Do
Fundraising
Apply to a range of trusts, foundations and grant-giving bodies with the potential to give up to five-figure annual grants
Develop and manage communications with a portfolio of existing supporters, with a clear objective to renew support
Liaise with operational colleagues to identify projects and priorities for funding, and, in consultation with the Senior Trusts & Foundations Manager, develop them into compelling projects for funders
Liaise with the Operations and Finance & Resources teams to develop robust budgets for funding applications
Develop strong relationships with trusts and foundations
Work with the Operations team and Impact and Evaluation team to prepare reports as required by funders
Work with the Impact and Evaluation team to gather impact data and evidence from Chance to Shine programmes to strengthen funding applications and reports
Work with the Communications & Marketing team to gather stories from Chance to Shine programmes to support funder communications and applications
Assist with other fundraising tasks as required
Research & Data
Research and identify prospective foundations to approach for funding
Support with briefing senior contacts for meetings and events as needed
Maintain effective records of key activities and contacts on Raiser's Edge
Regularly update funding pipeline data and report on progress to senior managers as required
Other
Represent the charity at networking events where required
What They're Looking For
Essential:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrable experience of writing engaging proposals/reports
Desirable:
Demonstrable experience in a fundraising role and/or securing grants from charitable trusts and foundations
Experience working on Raiser's Edge or a similar CRM system
Practical Details
Salary: £29,000–£33,000 per year
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Location: London (hybrid — minimum two days per week in the office)
